Types of Communities
Virginia offers many different types of communities. You can look for communities without HOA (Home Owner Associations) allowing you to do whatever you like to your land or the more conventional neighborhoods that do have some level of governance. Neighborhood sizes and amenities vary also. Some are gated, have golf courses, have club houses to eat at, have community swimming pools, walking trails, biking trails, playgrounds, sports and athletic fields and more.

Also, one important feature I like to pay attention to is whether or not the home I am looking at is on a thru street or not. In other words, can vehicle traffic pass through the neighborhood as a shortcut to another area and if so do they drive on your street. If that is the case the traffic through your neighborhood or in front of your home may be more than you bargained for. Regardless, pay close attention to the community features as you may not consider them when the excitement of a new home is at it’s high, but once you are settled in you will begin to notice.
